"Southern Hospitality is what brought me from a visitor from Illinois
to a resident of Aberdeen, Mississippi."
Diane Rehling-Smith, owner of Mon Chalet circa 1854

The Aberdeen Pilgrimage will be
April 5 - April 6, 2024!

Come visit historic Aberdeen, Mississippi for our 46th Spring Pilgrimage. This year's pilgrimage will take place on April 5 and April 6, 2024.

Aberdeen's rich history can be found on every corner. It is one of the most architecturally rich cites in the south from it's homes and buildings to our Old Aberdeen Cemetery which is the final resting place of many of the fallen from the war between the states. The variety of homes range from antebellum mansions and cottages to Victorian homes. Last years tour of homes homes ranged from 1840 to 1902. Our delightful homeowners welcome you to visit.

Make sure you see them all! In the deep south where cotton was king, Aberdeen, Mississippi was one of many towns created to please the wives of the large plantation owners. The rich black soil that surrounds Aberdeen was perfect for the formation of some of the most successful cotton plantations in the entire south. Seeing Aberdeen now makes it hard to believe it was once the second largest city in Mississippi and one the wealthiest in the south.

Aberdeen today is a treasure trove of quaint shops located along Commerce Street. Be sure to take the short drive to Blue Bluff and take in the views of the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway. Stop in at any of our bistros, cafes, and restaurants for breakfast or lunch or visit the historic Elkin Theatre for a movie in this restored Art Deco Gem. Make sure to include in your visit as many of the planned activities as possible. This website should be able to let you explore the many events and even purchase advanced tickets for it online. However, you may still buy tickets each day at the Elkin Theatre..
